Congratulations to MacLeod Group!

In recognition of their long-standing support of and commitment to Canadian arts and culture, MacLeod Group is being honoured with the 2026 Corporate Champion of the Arts Award!

For decades, MacLeod Group has strengthened cultural life across Atlantic Canada, investing in the organizations that serve local communities.

Founded in 1984 by the late Brian and Irene MacLeod, MacLeod Group is a leading provider of long-term care and retirement living services across Atlantic Canada. From its earliest days, the organization has been guided by a philosophy that places community connection, cultural support, and social responsibility at the heart of its mission.

That belief continues to shape MacLeod Group’s approach to partnership. Through long-standing relationships and active involvement on community and arts boards, the organization supports the people and spaces that bring communities together.

Across its partnerships, MacLeod Group has supported a broad range of community organizations across the Maritimes, including the Antigonish Highland Games Society, Festival Antigonish, Mulgrave Road Theatre, St. Francis Xavier University Art Gallery, Mount Allison University, Nova Scotia Community College, St. Martha’s Hospital Foundation, the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation and more. This support reflects a deep commitment to care, community, and the role of culture, education, and health in strengthening collective wellbeing.

Here’s what others have to say:

“More than thirty-five years ago, Brian and Irene MacLeod became the theatre’s first donors, writing a cheque for $250 to help secure our charitable status. That act of generosity sparked a relationship that would transform our organization and our region.”
— Andrea Boyd, Artistic Director of Festival Antigonish Summer Theatre

“Not only has the MacLeod Group demonstrated profound leadership through their philanthropic commitment, they have encouraged others to join them on that path. Their influence on Canadian arts and culture, especially in rural and underserved communities, has been significant, wide-reaching, and lasting.”
— Emmy Alcorn, Artistic Director of Mulgrave Road Theatre

The Corporate Champion of the Arts Award recognizes a corporation that has strengthened arts and culture in Canada through its long-standing support of and commitment to the sector.
