Louise and James Temerty, C.M., are being honoured with the 2026 Edmund C. Bovey Award for their remarkable legacy of philanthropic leadership and volunteerism in support of the arts in Canada.

For decades, the Temertys have been champions of Canadian culture, supporting institutions including the Royal Ontario Museum, The Royal Conservatory of Music, Music Toronto, the Canadian Opera Company, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, the Shevchenko Foundation, the Canada Ukraine Foundation, and the Ottawa Chamber Music Society.

They approach philanthropy with the conviction that investing in arts and culture is an investment in society itself, fostering human development, social cohesion, and a more connected Canada.

Here’s what others have to say:

“James and Louise share a remarkable, deeply held generosity of spirit that is selfless and far-reaching. Their leadership gift to endow free access programs at ROM is a signature example of their generosity, which contributes to a strong culture of philanthropy that attracted new communities and inspired others to get involved.”
— Janice Price, President & CEO, ROM Governors

« En demeurant convaincus que la musique et les arts enrichissent la vie et renforcent les communautés, ils ont grandement marqué le RCM et l’ensemble du paysage culturel canadien. »
— Alexander Brose, Michael and Sonja Koerner President & CEO, The Royal Conservatory of Music

Named after the first chairman of Business / Arts, the Edmund C. Bovey Award recognizes an individual or couple who has demonstrated a lifetime of significant philanthropy and/or volunteer leadership in arts and culture in Canada.
