Celebrating the power of partnership between business and the arts

Business / Arts is celebrating enduring partnerships and exceptional service to the arts with the 2022 Business / Arts awards. Presented annually, the Business / Arts Awards recognize innovative partnerships between business and the arts, and spotlight exceptional volunteers, leaders and companies who have made a significant contribution to the arts in Canada. The 2022 Award recipients were honoured at an in-person celebration on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the Artscape Wychwood Barns. Download the announcement here.

2022 Edmund C. Bovey Award Recipients

Frances and Tim Price

In recognition of their exceptional volunteerism and philanthropy in the arts, Frances and Tim Price are being honoured as the 2022 Edmond C. Bovey Awards Recipients. Dedicated, involved, and thoughtful both individually and as a team, Frances and Tim Price have demonstrated a lasting commitment to supporting and strengthening the Canadian cultural landscape.

Named after the first chairman of Business / Arts, the Edmund C. Bovey Award recognizes a business professional and/or philanthropist who has demonstrated a lifetime of significant philanthropy and/or volunteer leadership in arts and culture in Canada

2022 Peter Herrndorf Arts Leadership Award Recipient

Dr. Peter Simon
Michael and Sonja Koerner President & CEO

A tireless champion of the arts nationally and internationally, Dr. Peter Simon is celebrating 31 years with The Royal Conservatory (RCM). Since beginning his tenure as president and CEO in 1991, Dr. Simon has led a dynamic transformation of the programs and facilities of The Royal Conservatory resulting in a dramatic expansion of the number of participants, earned and donated revenues, endowment funds, and scholarship support for students.

The Peter Herrndorf Arts Leadership Award recognizes an arts leader who has spent a lifetime dedicated to fostering the arts in Canada by building partnerships with fellow arts executives, artists, media, business leaders and public sector officials to ensure a vibrant cultural sector for all Canadians.

2022 Arnold Edinborough Award Recipient

John-Michael Erlendson

In his career as Transformation Lead for an international software company, John-Michael specializes in business process management and strategic development. As a volunteer, he is a visionary, a force multiplier and a team leader. In his role as General Manager and President of SING! The Toronto International Vocal Arts Festival, John-Michael is dedicated to providing world-class arts, powerful arts education, and life-changing experiences to a range of audiences.

Named after the founding president of Business / Arts, the Arnold Edinborough Award recognizes a young business professional (40 and under) who has demonstrated exemplary leadership and volunteerism in the arts.

2022 Corporate Champion of the Arts Award Recipient

BT/A Advertising

For over three decades, BT/A Advertising and its team have been relentlessly dedicated to marketing the arts and culture in Canada. Through innovative marketing strategies, they have revolutionized how performing arts, cinema and visual arts are advertised across the country.

The Corporate Champion of the Arts Award recognizes a business that has strengthened arts and culture in Canada through its long-standing support of and commitment to the sector.

Canada Goose

Since 2017, Canada Goose has brought meaningful art by Canadian and Inuit artists to audiences in unexpected spaces, through their Northern Art Program. Featuring narratives that primarily focus on the Arctic experience, the Canada Goose Northern Art Program aims to build community, elevate stories, and enrich guest experiences. The collection includes nearly 400 works by Canadian artists with an overall investment exceeding CAD$2million, making it the largest retail collection of Inuit art in the world. As of today, representation includes 70% Inuit and indigenous artists, with gender parity reflected therein.

2022 Community Impact Award Recipient

Stagehand for their partnership with Calgary’s Music Mile

In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, Music Mile partnered with Stagehand to support Calgary musicians through a series of performance-focused initiatives. During a period when live performances were banned or severely restricted across the globe, these programs successfully funded and supported artists across Calgary.

The Community Impact Award recognizes an arts and business partnership that has enhanced the quality of life and enriched a local cultural scene through innovative programs, creative business partnerships or neighbourhood revitalization initiatives.
