Centring the Visual Arts in Thriving Societies
As champions of the arts, we recognize the immense value they hold in fostering social cohesion and driving economic growth in communities of all sizes. However, a critical question remains: what can be done to ensure this is understood within our communities and the broader public?
In this webinar, moderator Nancy Noble, Director and CEO, Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, turned our attention to the visual arts. Together with panelists Darcy Killeen, Executive Director, CONTACT Photography Festival; Mia Nielsen, Director, Art Toronto; and Su Ying Strang, Executive Director, Southern Alberta Art Gallery Maansiksikaitsitapiitsinikssin, actionable strategies were explored for positioning the arts as indispensable components of thriving societies. This session also includes discussions on ways to empower audiences to become enthusiastic advocates for the arts and opportunities to foster a deeper appreciation and understanding of the impact of the arts.
Watch the latest edition of the Speaker Series as we consider what’s working, what needs to change, and ways that we can all work together to move the arts forward.
