Business / Arts Leadership Program!

Nurturing Excellence in Arts, Culture, and Heritage Leadership.


As part of our 50th anniversary programming, Business / Arts presents a one-year Leadership Program to empower 25 arts, culture, and heritage leaders from across Canada. Intended for those interested in pursuing senior roles in large cultural organizations, this program looks to nurture a diverse talent pool and bridge leadership gaps within Canada’s cultural sector.


Program Highlight (March 2024 – February 2025):

  • Participation and complimentary registration for the 2024 Canadian Arts Summit. (March 21-23, 2024, in Banff, AB)
  • Three nights of accommodation and up to $750* for travel support provided by Business / Arts to attend the Summit. (*participants travelling from Northern Territories or Atlantic Canada may receive up to $1000)
  • Pairing with a senior leader from a prominent Canadian cultural organization as your advisor during and after the Summit.
  • Monthly one-on-one knowledge-sharing sessions with your advisor following the Summit with an emphasis on co-learning between advisors and participants.

Call for Recommendations:

Business / Arts is seeking recommendations for 25 emerging arts leaders to participate in this one-year program.

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Be a professional arts workers (part-time or full-time)
  • Be a permanent resident of Canada
  • Be available to attend and travel to the Canadian Arts Summit on March 21-23, 2024, and commit to monthly mentorship sessions
  • Be able to commit to monthly knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Have demonstrated leadership experience within a medium (approximately $1.5 to $3M) or large (over $3M) arts, culture, or heritage organization in Canada. (Please note that these size categories are guidelines, and the mentioned financial thresholds serve as considerations rather than strict criteria.)
  • Aspire to hold a senior leadership role within a large Canadian arts, culture, or heritage organization

Expressing Interest: 

Individuals are invited to express their interest by February 15, 2024, providing contact information, an up-to-date C.V., and a one-page bio. Submissions can be made through self-recommendation or by a Canadian Arts Summit delegate or senior arts leader. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide two references as part of the selection process.

 

There is no age limit for participation and we welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds and positions within the arts sector, including executive leaders, directors of departments such as development, communications and marketing, public programming, and more.

Business / Arts is committed to equity in our policies, practices, and programs. We will be prioritizing submissions from individuals who identify as Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQ+, living with a disability, or are part of a religious or language minority.
